This time last year, we wrote about patents having some connection to St. Patrick’s Day. This year, we wish to honor another important day in March, the first day of spring, with patents about springs. Turns out, when you search for the combined terms patents and spring, the search engines find patents about mechanical springs rather than the season. So, let’s roll with it.
I had to include US8183486B2 at the top of the last because of its insistence that it has to do with springs. It is titled, Spring arrangement for spring drive unit and spring drive unit comprising spring arrangement. OK! We get it! You are very springy.

We are all painfully aware of spring cleaning. Well, US9402462B1 is a cleaning tool that includes spring-loaded elements. Since this tool is for oral care, you may not want to limit its use to only one season of the year.

US1331952 inspired many cartoon artists over the years.

We must include the most famous spring patent, US2415012A, for a toy and process of use, better known as the Slinky.

Finally, this last patent, US4605000A, does not have a mechanical spring. However, I had to include it because it allows you to take spring time with you, wherever you go. For your enjoyment, I present the Greenhouse Helmet.

Happy Spring, all.
